“Does your organisation/group currently coordinate volunteers, provide befriending services or have contact with people in need of support in Dorset? Do you want to help people engage with nature, arts, and movement?

This webinar will:

  • Explain the concept of “Nature Buddies”
  • Introduce the partnership approach to delivering a ‘Nature Buddies Network’
  • Discuss how to ensure the ‘Nature Buddies Network’ is administrated, promoted, and supported in the best possible way for all those involved.

Nature Buddies is part of a wider project funded by National Academy for Social Prescribing, Arts Council England, Natural England and Historic England designed to empower healthcare providers to support communities to access and enjoy landscape themed activities. The partnership led by The Arts Development Company along with Stepping into Nature, Help & Care and Active Dorset is one of 37 projects nationally to receive funding to embed green social prescribing in health care to help support people who may be isolated, anxious or have low confidence to get back outside in Dorset. The role of a volunteer Nature Buddy is to support individuals at a very personalised level to help gradually increase their confidence and ability to enjoy engaging with nature again.

If you would like more information please email Julie.hammon@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk to discuss further.”

This sounds great for mental health and wellbeing, let’s hope it gets going soon.
