Helen presents cheque for £1325.00 for MHND HAPS

Helen Gilchrist of Poles Ahead Nordic Walking has recently done three amazing sponsored challenges

Helen says: “I have done three events this year and I started collecting sponsor money in March when I walked the entire coastal path of the Isle of Wight, 72 miles, over 3 consecutive days. My second challenge was to Nordic walk the Jurassic Coast 100 km event, from Corfe Castle to Bridport, continuously. This took 26 hours of Nordic walking endless hills and included brief stops for food. My third event was to swim the Solent from Hurst Point in Hampshire, to Colwell Bay on the Isle of Wight. This took 58 minutes and was approximately 2.8 km.

The first two events have raised £1325.00 for Mental Health North Dorset Help and Peer Support. The swim event raised another £408 for the West Wight Sports and Community Centre on the Isle of Wight, which also provides a hub of support for all areas of the West Wight community in relation to well-being and fitness.

The donations come from group members of Poles Ahead Nordic walking and Personal Training clients who I see each week, as well as some from the staff of Gillingham surgery.”
Mental Health North Dorset Help and Peer Support needs funds for hall hire, insurance, advertising, printing, website maintenance and updates, volunteers expenses, training and more and so we are incredibly grateful to Helen.
THANK YOU!
