Although not strictly Mental Health News I wanted to say a big thank you to the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Living in North Dorset we are far away from an A&E department, at the very least 1/2 hour by road even with blue lights and sirens on a road ambulance. It is very reassuring to know that the air ambulances might be able to help. As with NHS mental health we are very much a ‘forgotten area’ in terms of NHS emergency medicine and I am sure residents in other parts of Dorset don’t realise how poorly we are served.
I choose to do the lottery run by the D&SAA and this means I get their magazine, Beeline with lots of information. If you can afford it I see it as paying for an essential service which I need to pay like a tax.
