I have been involved with the “Bus Back Better” consultation and it was extremely disappointing that Dorset received no funding from the Government. The organisers of this are asking for people to now contribute their opinions again via a survey which I have been asked to publicise.
“Dorset Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) was prepared in response to the Government’s National Bus Strategy Bus Back Better initiative, aimed at improving bus services across England. We will publish a refreshed document early next year.
Although the Council’s bid for BSIP funding in round one was unsuccessful, there will be future funding opportunities which we will apply for to action those improvements outlined in our initial plan that can be funded. We are continuing to work with local bus operators to make improvements to the network within our current budgetary constraints.
The purpose of this survey is to seek further input from the public and our stakeholders on their priorities for public transport knowing that funding is limited. We will be aligning these views with input from local businesses, tourism, health service providers and town and parish councils as well as local transport action groups and other stakeholders.”
The survey is now live and runs until 11th September 2022
