The Big Issue launched this campaign in the summer of 2021.
“Many renters have racked up thousands of pounds in arrears since the pandemic and the pressure is increasing. Last week property sit Zoopla reported rent increases had hit a 13-year high as demand skyrocketed without an increase in supply to match.”
The Big Issue has been calling for the government to intervene and protect renters from falling into homelessness.
“Now, we make our call simple and urgent. The government must step in to pay £300 million in rent arrears now to prevent homelessness or face greater costs down the line. “
