In the lead up to a Mental Health Today Live webinar on improving the accessibility of mental health services for deaf and hard of hearing people (13th June 11 AM – 12 PM), we summarise the current landscape and barriers to accessing face-to-face therapy for that community. And introduce some good practices that can be implemented in producing a more equitable mental health recovery process.
As someone who is hard of hearing and living with/caring for a deaf father this is something that I am particularly interested in. All healthcare, physical and mental falls woefully short of adequate accommodations for deaf and hard of hearing.
